Naomi Campbell Not a Model Taxpayer
British supermodel Naomi Campbell, known as much for her beauty as her scandalous behavior, can now add an IRS lien to her list of troubles.
According to Detroit News, the IRS filed a $63,487 tax lien against Campbell on July 28 with the New York City register’s office for taxes owed in 2009. The lien was filed against Campbell’s property in the Carnegie Hall Tower in New York City.
The lien was field just days before Campbell testified at Liberian ex-president Charles Taylor’s war crime trial in The Netherlands. She testified that she was given “dirty-looking stones” after a dinner she attended with Taylor in September 1997 in South Africa. She said she wasn’t sure if the stones were “blood diamonds” – uncut diamonds so named because they are used to finance violent conflicts.
