This week, David Lifson was quoted in a New York Times article about a new requirement beginning next year that corporations provide a brief description of their uncertain tax positions and their rationale.

Accounting Web interviewed NYSSCPA Executive Director Joanne Barry about the growth of the Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession program, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2011. Community newspaper The Baldwin Herald also listed COAP participants from a local high school.

American Banker quoted Mark Mycio, chairman of the Accounting Standards Committee, in an article about the future of cost-based accounting (subscription only).

Marc Albaum was quoted by the Daily News in an article about back taxes owed by Spanish day-trader Marcos Esparza Bofill.

WROC-TV interviewed Rochester member David Young about the consumer impact of a new rule restricting bank overdraft fees.

The Society of American Business Editors and Writers posted an article about an upcoming Society seminar for journalists on understanding financial statements.
