NYSSCPA Members in the News
Welcome to CPA.Blog's newest feature, "Members in the News," a regular post that will provide links and downloadable clips of NYSSCPA members' interviews and contributions to articles in newspapers and magazines, as well as television news segments.
In this, our inaugural post, we have two members highlighted in various media.
A CBS 2 article about the eliminated sales tax exemption in the approved New York state budget included this quote from Wayne K. Berkowitz, a member of the New York State, Multistate and Local Taxation Committee:
"I think it’s going to hurt retailers. It’s going to hurt the middle class. It’s going to hurt lower income taxpayers because you have New Jersey that essentially has no sales tax on clothes and you have Connecticut which has a $50 exemption as well."
And the NYSSCPA's own Robert Clovey, president of the Queens/Brooklyn Chapter, started a volunteer tax-assistance program, for which he was featured in the Queens Chronicle.
