SAS
99: Impact on Technology Assurance
Tuesday March 4, 2002 9:30 A.M. to 10:30
A.M.
The
recent adoption of SAS 99 has forced all audit teams
to think of the potential of fraud in new areas. In
many service enterprises, information technology represents
the largest or second largest expense item. As a result,
it is imperative that auditors consider the possibility
of various frauds that can be initiated or facilitated
through the information technology department.
This
CPE session will consist of a panel discussion that
will first provide a very brief overview of the new
SAS. The panel will then explore technology implication
of the SAS emphasizing various fraud schemes impacting
Information Technology. Finally, an IT vendor kickback
scheme will be discussed along with lessons learned
to prevent and detect these types of fraud in the future.
