Trivia Event Tests Staten Island CPAs

Members of the NYSSCPA Staten Island Chapter battled wits with other professionals in Brainstorm, a local charity event held in October that featured a Staten Island trivia contest.

The CPAs, whose team chose the name the Trusted Pros in honor of The Trusted Professional, made it through the first round with flying colors but lost to the South Shore Rotary in the finals. Chapter President Rosemarie Barnickel and past presidents Gerard LoVerde and Gregory Cicero participated in the event. Each team also required a student, represented on the Trusted Pros by Thomas Scarinci, son of Chapter Vice President Cynthia Scarinci. Other teams included representatives from the Staten Island Savings Bank, the local rotary chapter, Richmond County Savings Bank, and the Staten Island Advance newspaper.

In addition to funds raised for the Staten Island Advance's newspaper in education program and the Staten Island Children's Campaign, the event gave the Society's chapter visibility in the local community as it was held in the center court of the Staten Island Mall, which sponsored the contest with the Advance.

The Trusted Pros said they will compete next year but will be sure to study their Staten Island trivia well in advance of the competition. *

Editor's Note: We love the team's name and will root for you next year!
