Goldberg to Discuss Audits and Retirement Planning
By Amol Tembe
Seymour Goldberg (Nassau), recipient of Outstanding Discussion Leader awards from the AICPA and FAE, authored and will speak at several programs for the Foundation in New York City and Long Island this summer.
Goldberg will give an update on recent changes to IRS audits in a
program called The New IRS Audit Techniques: What the Practitioner Should Know.
"There's a great need for the accounting profession to have an awareness of all the current rules, like those relating to the restructuring legislation of 1998," he said.
He will discuss strategies for handling field and office audits as well as how to prepare a protest. Attendees will receive a copy of Practicing Before the New IRS. The programs will take place July 20 in New York City and July 21 on Long Island.
Goldberg also will offer advice on providing services to clients with significant retirement assets in a program titled Pension Distributions: Planning Strategies, Cases, and Rulings.
"Accountants have the basic skills, but the topics in this field were so advanced that I saw a need for this program," he said. "It's been very successful, drawing more than one hundred attendees."
The seminar will take place June 14 in New York City and June 21 on Long Island. Attendees will receive a copy of Pension Distributions: Planning Strategies, Cases, and Rulings.
Later in the summer, Goldberg will offer Tax Planning with Retirement Assets.
"This course grew out of the tremendous boom in the IRA field," he said.
He also will advise on integrating retirement assets into the estate plan and the Roth IRA. Attendees will receive a free 1999 edition of Tax Planning with Retirement Assets. FAE will offer this course August 13 in New York City and August 27 on Long Island.
See the course listings on pages 1722 for presentation details. For more information on these or other programs, call FAE Registration at (212) 719-8383 or (800) 537-3635.
