Message From the President

Have you ever wondered how the NYSSCPA functions, or, more specifically, how our local chapter runs? Did you know that, during the first quarter of this fiscal year, over 600 people participated in various meetings and events as part of our chapter? If you would like to learn more about our Society, please participate in or observe the next Buffalo Chapter leadership meeting.
The chapter leadership consists of a five-member executive committee; nine directors; three Buffalo representatives serving as statewide directors/officers, and 14 committee chairs. This quarter’s meeting, held on Oct. 20, will be open to the general membership and is at the Four Points Sheraton on Walden Avenue. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m., and the meeting will be called to order at 8:00 and adjourned no later than 9:30. If you have entertained the idea of becoming more involved in the chapter, this is the perfect way to give it a test drive without any commitment.
You have my personal guarantee that you will not be asked to volunteer for anything if you join us for this meeting. Please RSVP by Oct. 13 so we may have an accurate count for breakfast. Hope to see you there.
It has become somewhat of a tradition to recognize individuals that have made a significant contribution to the chapter during the previous month. This month is no different; on behalf of everyone who attended the Young CPAs Golf Outing, I would like to thank Anthony Agostino, Patrick Mathews and their committee for the great job they did putting together this year’s tournament.
The Young CPAs Committee will host a happy hour this month. Look for the October listserv update for the details on the date and location. The young CPAs have also scheduled the second annual Niagara-on-the-Lake Wine Tour for Nov. 6. Details may be obtained by visiting the Buffalo Chapter web page at www.nysscpa.org/chapters.html. Just another reminder that the 51st Annual Tax Institute will be held on Nov. 18 and 19. Sign up now.
The “Traveling Member Breakfast Series” will continue this month. A detailed schedule of dates and locations may be found on our website.
