Message From the President

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is looking forward to a productive fall. I am very excited about continuing as President of the Finger Lakes Chapter for the 2004–2005 fiscal year. We held our Chapter Officer Organization Meeting on June 8. At that time, we welcomed Susanne Neidrich as the new vice president. During the summer, we held two officers meetings, on June 22 and Aug. 23, to finalize the list of events for this year. Our list of upcoming events for the year is as follows:

Oct. 5: NYSSCPA Officers Visitation and Ethics CPE; 4:00 p.m.; La Tourelle, Ithaca, N.Y.

Nov. 18: Elmira Jackals Hockey Game Social Event. 6:00 p.m.; First Arena, Elmira, N.Y.

April 26, 2005: Student Recognition Awards and Officers Installation. 6:00 p.m.; Hamilton Hall, Elmira College, Elmira, N.Y.
In addition to finalizing this program of events, the officers also discussed outreach programs to attract high school students into the accounting profession. In July, Susanne Neidrich spoke to the Business Teachers Association of New York State about the CPA profession and high school accounting curriculum. Southern Tier Chapter representatives joined in the discussion. The Finger Lakes Chapter would like to continue conversations of this nature with local school boards. Please let me know if you’re interested.
