2001 Annual Leadership Conference Highlights

Society members descended on the historic Hershey Hotel in Hershey, Pa., June 9–12 for one of the biggest annual events on the NYSSCPA calendar. Attendees feted past presidents, tackled important issues like membership recruitment, and enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with colleagues from throughout New York state. The 2001 Annual Leadership Conference combined for the first time the traditional Annual Conference with the Annual Leadership Meeting.

The four-day event included workshops where committee chairs collaborated with chapter officers to provide guidance for new and established committees. Young CPAs and CPA candidates conferred with seasoned professionals to tap into their experience. Meanwhile, the Board of Directors met to discuss pressing issues like the CPA2Biz portal and the controversial global designation. There was also an update on independence issues currently under discussion at the SEC and a probing look into the “business-to-business” e-commerce developments in the profession.

Members and their families participated in a conference run, a golf tournament, a tour of Chocolate Town, USA, and the Hershey Museum, and other activities.
