Real Estate Conference Is a Real Success

By Marietta E. Gentles

Nearly 140 accountants and financial professionals attended the Foundation for Accounting Education’s successful Real Estate Conference held at the Metropolitan Hotel in New York City on Jan. 7.

The conference tackled important issues and developments in the real estate industry, including a discussion of new tax legislation that relates to real estate transactions. There was also an up-to-date review of the financing market in real estate.

Barry M. Gosin, a principal of Newmark & Company Real Estate Inc., was featured among the guest lecturers for the day. Gosin, who is also one of the real estate industry’s top brokers, spoke at the "Luncheon Address" about the effect that Sept. 11 had on the industry.

Pamela Liebman, the residential expert, gave an update on the New York City residential market and where it will be heading in the future. Liebman is president and chief executive officer of Corcoran Group Real Estate and is a nationally recognized market expert.

The conference provided timely and valuable information from more than a dozen accredited speakers. The format of lectures, discussions and the opportunity to ask questions proved beneficial to those who attended.

"Real estate is alive and well in New York after Sept. 11. I think that the conference had great speakers and great topics and it was well received and added value to the participants," said Sponsoring Committee Chair Don A. Kiamie, CPA, of Kiamie Properties Management.
