About the Health Care Committee

COMMITTEE ACTION PLAN

Who We Are

The Health Care Committee is a resource to NYSSCPA members regarding emerging accounting, reporting, reimbursement and tax issues for the healthcare industry.

What We Do

The Committee provides the following technical, educational and networking activities:

  • Addresses technical questions from NYSSCPA members
  • Provides a liaison between the NYSSCPA and government agencies, in particular the NYS Department of Health and Social Services
  • Monitors Federal and State legislation relating to healthcare accounting and reporting matters
  • Conducts educational conferences/technical sessions
  • Provides the opportunity to comment upon exposure drafts for new standards, pronouncements and reimbursement issues as well as implementation and interpretative guidance
  • Affords networking opportunities at Committee meetings and conferences
  • Disseminates information through articles in The CPA Journal and The Trusted Professional and other media
  • Meet others with healthcare expertise
  • Learn about various areas within healthcare, such as hospitals, nursing homes, home care, clinics, physician practices, managed care, etc.
  • Provide your input to those who make policy decisions regarding regulations, accounting principles and reporting matters
  • Speak at and/or help coordinate annual conferences
  • Author articles for The CPA Journal or The Trusted Professional
