Action Plan
Who
We Are
The
Legislative Task Force Committee is responsible for the monitoring and
evaluation of NYS laws, legislation, rules and regulations related to the
practice of public accounting in particular and business in general.
What
We Do
The
Legislative Task Force Committee, in conjunction with the Society’s legislative
staff, on a continual basis does the following:

Reviews
and evaluates existing laws, rules and regulations for appropriateness in the
practice of public accounting.

Proactively
recommend amendments and change to existing legislation and
regulations.

Reviews
and evaluates proposed legislation, rules and regulations for the effect on
the practice of public accounting.

Recommends
to the Board positions to be taken related to current and proposed
legislation, rules and regulations.

Contacts
Legislators and Regulators to put forth the position of the Society on matters
affecting the profession.

Works
with the AICPA to coordinate the efforts put forth for the implementation of
the provisions of the Uniform Accountancy Act in NYS.

Reviews
other NYS proposed legislation and regulations that impact the business
climate in NYS.
Who
Should Join
Committee
members, appointed by the Society President, should have significant knowledge
of the laws, rules and regulations governing the practice of public
accounting. The members should be
willing to actively participate in advocacy through contact with legislators and
regulators.
