The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) has made enhancements to its website to allow for stakeholders to access and understand data from PCAOB inspection reports, the board announced.
The PCAOB has released six new search filters on its Firm Inspection Reports page to help users analyze and compare more than 3,700 inspection reports. They are inspection type, total issuer audit clients, part I.A deficiency rate, specific global network, inspection year, and audits reviewed.
Previously, inspection reports could be searched by using only four filters: firm name, country/geography, year when a report was published, and whether a report includes public quality control criticisms.
“PCAOB inspection reports provide investors, audit committees, and potential clients with important information they can use to make informed decisions,” PCAOB Chair Erica Y. Williams said in a statement. “By making that information easier to find and compare, these new tools will empower users to hold firms accountable for producing high-quality audits.”
Users can now also download the entire data set into three formats: CSV, XML, and JSON. These three formats maximize the ability of users to integrate PCAOB data into third-party applications for further analysis.
“The PCAOB continues to work on projects this year that will further increase transparency for all external stakeholders,” the board said in the statement.
