Letter from Rochester Chapter President
By Joe Greene, Rochester Chapter President Elect
It is truly an honor to serve as your President of the Rochester Chapter of the NYCPA. I am humbled and tremendously excited to carry the torch and help move our chapter and professional community forward. The Rochester accounting community has long been defined by professionalism, collaboration, and service. I am especially thankful for the board members and committee volunteers who serve as the engine of this organization.
I am looking forward to continuing to grow and improve many of the foundational events that bring our members together. Programs like our Student Awards Night, the Hall of Fame Clambake, and the Tax Institute are pillars of engagement for our chapter and provide meaningful opportunities for professionals across the region to connect, learn, and celebrate our profession.
An important focus for us will be continuing to build bridges for the next generation of leaders in accounting. Our World of Accounting and COAP (Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession) events allow us to connect directly with students who are considering careers in accounting and finance. These programs help showcase the strength of our profession and the supportive community that exists here in Rochester.
At the same time, we are excited to introduce new opportunities for engagement, including our New CPA Celebration event and a joint charitable casino event at the newly renovated Oak Hill Country Club with like-minded organizations in finance and legal fields.
I’d love to hear from YOU on how we can best serve the needs of our profession in Rochester. My email is jgreene@evansandbennett.com. In particular, for those working in industry who face unique challenges, I would value your perspective on what types of programming, events, or community building opportunities would be most helpful to your needs.
Between the talent pipeline crunch, the growing presence of private equity, and the rapid development of artificial intelligence, our profession is experiencing significant changes. That doesn’t mean they have to be met alone. Rather, these challenges also create opportunities for collaboration, learning, and leadership.
I invite you to join us in participating in the Rochester Chapter of the NYCPA as we face these changes together. Every program I mentioned above would be better served with the inclusion of your time, energy, and expertise. Whether you are a student, staff member, manager, partner, educator, or CFO, each of us brings valuable insight and perspective that helps strengthen our profession and our community.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve.
Sincerely,
Joe Greene, CPA
President
